It’s that time of year again and Master’s football is back in Asia. Members of the media were in attendance at the Double Tree hotel in Kuala Lumpur this month to attend the exciting launch of the Standard Chartered Masters Football Malaysia Cup 2012. In typical Masters fashion this year’s tournament was introduced by a legend of the game, none other than, Bayern Munich, Manchester City and Liverpool legend Ditmar Hamann.

 

Football fans the world over will remember Dietmar Hamann (affectionately remembered as ‘Didi,’) for his introduction at half-time of the 2005 Champions League final where his presence on the pitch helped lead Liverpool to an historic fight back from 3-0 down against AC Milan. The reds eventually went on to win the trophy on penalties (with Didi stepping up to convert the first of them, with a broken foot no less!)

The German will be making his first appearance in Master’s football this year with Liverpool hoping to clinch the trophy from the hands of the EPL All Stars. You may well remember some virtuoso displays from the The All Stars who of course won last year’s tournament in both Brunei and KL having been inspired by some sensational performances from their Colombian maestro, Faustino Asprilla.

On the day of the 2012 launch, those in attendance were eager to ask the Liverpool legend questions about this year’s tournament, the most pertinent of which alluded to this year’s team sheet.  We’re pleased to announce that teams are nearly 90% full missing just a few gems.  There will again be a star-studded roster of legends on show, with each team represented by the following EPL legends…
