Headmasters Note
At the British School our pastoral programme focuses on developing learning skills, while our House System rewards high achievement. As children progress through the school, teachers and support assistants provide challenges and support appropriate to each child’s level. Values such as compassion, respect and friendliness are an integral part of the school ethos. Clear boundaries and simple rules make the British School a happy and safe place to learn.
A strong work ethic permeates the school and all of our teachers are committed to delivering the very best of the UK curriculum. We also understand that for this to be successful there has to be an emphasis upon the enjoyment inherent in learning.
A major strength of our school is its rich cultural mix, with children from a wide variety of countries. Our children learn to make friends and mix with people from a diverse range of cultural backgrounds making it an ideal place to prepare for life in a rapidly changing, increasingly multi-cultural world.
Small class sizes combined with our policy of restricting the number of EAL students to a maximum of 20% in any class means that you can be sure that your children will be getting a truly British education. Headmaster’s Welcome
We are extremely excited and proud of The International School of Moscow. Since opening in April 07, the school has grown and developed faster than we could have imagined. We recently undertook major re-modeling of the original Krylatskoe campus, improving on safety and classroom design and have also acquired a new Upper School campus, which is within walking distance of the Lower School. The new campus boasts large indoor and outdoor sports facilities plus spacious specialist classrooms, including science lab, ICT suite and extensive library.
We are very fortunate to have combined an excellent and dedicated team of teaching professionals from the UK, with two fabulous campuses located in a truly unique setting. I believe this combination, together with rich academic resources and the use of state-of-the-art technologies, allows ISM to provide a first rate education for the children in our care. We aim to instil, from the very youngest age, the ability for critical thinking and reasoning, while gaining essential social and learning skills, which will be integral to their school life.
We are delighted that you are considering The International School of Moscow for your child’s education. We are a British School with clear aims, a standardised curriculum (English National Curriculum) and high academic standards. Though traditional and formal in style, we are also progressive, dynamic and have a modern approach to teaching and learning. We combine the rigors of classroom work with a welcoming and friendly learning environment. Children are encouraged to do their best at whatever they attempt, and to achieve their full potential in all areas. Our staff set the very highest standards, not only academically, but also in terms of behaviour and social skills.
